Moisture Testing Instruments
 
Moisture is one of the major testing parameter for raw material specification. High moisture in dried food products is not preferred. Moisture can be tested by 3 main techniques i.e. by the determination of weight change of pre-weighted sample against pre-treated sample at temperature of about 105 deg. C. Above 100 deg. C water contents in samples will be evaporated and cause in the loss of weight which will be equal to % moisture content. Moisture testing instrument is also known as “moisture balance” since the digital balance is used to measure the weight. Using the heating halogen lamp, water can be evaporated. The second method is by using portable moisture analyzer with conductivity sensor, sometimes called "Grain Moisture Meter". More advance version is by using NIR technique but the price is more expensive. Major applications are for agricultural products, grains, powder, pellets, food products, chemicals, mineral, etc.
